Description: The Automatic Post Image Artwork Punch is designed to provide extremely accurate tooling in imaged artwork without the need of operator judgement. Utilizing an X-Y-θ position table in conjunction with a high resolution vision system, the artwork punch automatically locates the artwork and punches in the registration tooling. Any deviation or error of the artwork locations is compensated for by splitting the difference before punching. Beach the unit is most often incorporated in a post-etch system of inner layer registration, it is designed to provide tooling for front-to-back registration without pinning the artwork to the laminate. It can also be configured for use with outer layers, buried vias and solder mask registration where pinning artwork to the panels is required. To further assure quality control, the Post Image Artwork Punch features Statistical Process Control Data which is collected on every cycle. The operator is provided with a report pertaining to spread data, average error and standard deviation via a two line LCD display. This data can be used to accept or reject artwork, thus allowing for the replotting of artwork with revised compensation factors. A hard copy can also be provided by utilizing an optional printer. An RS232 serial port is available to access the data. The Post Image Artwork Punch is manufactured to highly precision tolerances. The machine is built utilizing a 4-1/2" thick granite sub-base which assures maximum accuracy and stability. The punching heads are adjustable to accommodate artwork from 10" x 12" to 26" x 30". The Automatic Post Image Artwork Punch is part of Multiline's fully integrated Post Processing System (PPS). Punching artwork after developing is a proven method of achieving the best possible layer-to-layer registration since it eliminates plotter pinning tolerance and minimizes any dimensional instability of the film.
